Our Archdiocese
St John's Catholic Primary School is situated in the Archdiocese of Liverpool; a network of almost 230 schools and colleges, focused on the personal, spiritual and moral formation of our young people as well as on academic progress.

Mini-Vinnies
The Mini Vinnies are the youngest members of the St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP), an international Christian voluntary organisation dedicated to tackling poverty in all its forms by providing practical assistance to people in need.
Our Mini Vinnies members meet to live out their mission of see, think, do and support our school community and beyond alongside the SVP.
Our Parish
The Catholic Community of Skelmersdale is served by three churches and five primary schools, alongside a high school. As one parish we strive to build a living community of family and friends. Together we try to love one another and put into practice the way Jesus taught us to live. We believe that belonging to the Church enriches lives on so many different levels and in so many different ways.
Our Parish Priest is Fr Kenny Hyde.
Our School
At St John’s Catholic Primary School, we strive for excellence in education by providing a safe, secure, caring family environment, where individuals are valued and respected, enabling them to reach their potential, whilst growing in their love and understanding of the Catholic faith.
We aim to achieve our vision through a rich and diverse curriculum with Catholic life interwoven; we believe our faith permeates all we do for, and with, our children.
Catholic education embraces faith and learning; the distinct nature of Catholic education is rooted in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
‘Everything we do in our Catholic school communities is shaped by the Gospel of Jesus Christ, who is the way, the truth and the life’ (John 14:6)
Faith in Action
We are proud participants of the ‘The Faith in Action Award’ via Liverpool Archdiocese Animate Youth.
This award encourages young people through recognising, rewarding and celebrating their active faith lived out through service and reflection. The Award helps them connect their life and faith in a tangible manner.
In journeying through the Award, young people experience a deepening of their relationship with God and have opportunities to explore that relationship. It is hoped that through their relationship and action, others will see God's love through them.

Advent 2023 - The Travelling Crib
This year we are introducing a new tradition...The Travelling Crib. This is to help us remember the journey that Mary & Joseph made to Bethlehem, and as a family take time to stop and think about the true meaning of Christmas.
We hope it will bring families together in prayer and help parents/carers in supporting and developing the Spirituality of their children.
Advent - Reverse Advent Calendar
For a number of years, St John's has organised a 'Reverse Advent calendar'; an opportunity to give something instead of receiving.
Throughout December, we ask for donations of food and toiletries for our local St Vincent de Paul Society. We always receive lots of donations which are distributed to people and families in need.
Harvest 2023; our local St Vincent de Paul was delighted with our contributions to their food bank.
