After School Care

After School Care

St John’s continues to work in partnership with parents and carers and, following requests from parents, continues to provide After School Care which is available Monday to Friday, term time, from 3.15pm to 5.30pm.   Each session costs just £6 and concessions are available for those wishing to use both the Breakfast Club and After School Care on a full time basis.

Mrs Wright and Mrs Dodd provide an abundance of activities and resources for the children to enjoy throughout and a healthy snack is provided.

If you are interested in booking some sessions or would like further information, please feel free call in and ask to speak to Moira.

Following our trial of extended hours provision, which a number of parents had requested for Spring 2017, I can very happily tell you that we are able to continue the morning and afternoon school clubs at least up to the end of the Summer term 2017.

We have reviewed the costings for both ‘Breakfast Club’ and Paid ‘After School Club,’ so as from April 19th 2017 (1st day back after Easter) the new charges are as follows:

  • Breakfast Club 7.30am – 8.45am    £3.00 per session   (£2.00 for pupil premium children)
  • After School Care 3.15pm – 5.30pm    £6.00 per session

However, in order to organise staffing we must know numbers of children attending prior to attendance at the clubs. Due to the nature of these clubs being outside the normal opening hours, as a school, we have to recruit additional staff, or pay staff additional hours to be available.  Therefore if payment is not made in advance we cannot allow children to attend. In addition if places have been booked and a child is unable to attend, for whatever reason, we cannot refund money as staff will have been recruited in advance.

As such payment for both clubs is detailed below:

  • Breakfast Club paid weekly in advance
  • After School Care paid fortnightly in advance

We do, as always, try to keep our costs to a minimum as we appreciate how tight funds are for our families. We have done our research on other establishments within the area and find that our charges are considerably lower than other schools who have paid out of hours provision for parents accessing employment, education and training.

Yours sincerely,
