Welcome to Year 5

Important Information

All children should access Bug Club and DB Learning at least once a week at home or during lunchtime Computing Club.

We need to continue to be able to recall all of our timetables facts so any opportunity you can get to practise these will support the children in all of their maths work throughout the year.

We will be doing a weekly arithmetic test on a Friday.

Spellings will be given on a Monday and children will be tested on a Friday.

Reading books can be changed daily once children have read at home and the blue book has been signed.  Children are expected to read 60 minutes a week at home and this should be recorded in the blue reading record. In school children are completing individual 'Readopoly' boards to read a wide range of texts, complete book reviews and win fantastic prizes.

Homework is given to the children every Friday. Children can complete this at home and return it by Tuesday the following week. Alternatively, the children can attend homework club on a Monday after school or Tuesday lunchtime.

PE is Wednesday and Friday please ensure children have their kits in on these days and that earrings are removed.

Year 5 have access to the library on Friday to collect ‘Caught Reading Cash Vouchers’.

Brass lessons are on Thursday, so please ensure your child remembers their instrument on that day if they take it home to practise.

Roald Dahl Day

We had to challenge our friends to work out the missing 6 and 7 digit numbers numbers on a numberline

We had to describe decimal numbers to our friends using the correct place value terminology. If they recorded the number correctly we both got a house point!
