Welcome to Year 5

Important Information

All children should access Bug Club and MyMaths at least once a week at home or during lunchtime Computing Club.

We need to continue to be able to recall all of our times tables facts so any opportunity you can get to practise these will support the children in all of their maths work throughout the year.

We will be doing a weekly arithmetic test on a Tuesday.

Spellings will be given on a Friday and children will be tested on the following Friday, these will be available on Seesaw in addition to being in the spelling books the children bring home.

Reading books can be changed daily once children have read at home and the blue book has been signed.  Children are expected to read 60 minutes a week at home and this should be recorded in the blue reading record. In school children are completing individual 'Readopoly' boards to read a wide range of texts, complete book reviews and win fantastic prizes.

Year 5 have swimming Monday morning and PE in school Tuesday afternoon. Please ensure your child has the correct kit on the correct day.

Year 5 have access to the library on Friday borrow and return a wide range of fiction and non-fiction texts.

Brass lessons are on Thursday, so please ensure your child remembers their instrument on that day if they take it home to practise.

All updates, newsletters and notifications will be posted on Seesaw, so please ensure you have access to the app. If you have any questions please to not hesitate to contact me to arrange an appointment before or after school.

Many thanks for your support,

Miss Derome
